Building your dream one mile at a time
The new year is here, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to map out your path ahead. Whether you’re chasing a long-time dream or tackling a new goal, this is a great time to reflect on what’s come before and look ahead to what’s next.
Running is one of those areas for me. As a distance runner, I’ve learned that the discipline it takes to hit the pavement also helps me stay focused and driven in other areas of life. Who knew that pounding the pavement for over 2,200 miles in 2024 (a crazy stupid amount of time, I know…why?!) could also help me tackle my other goals in life and business?
In the video, I walk you through a simple 4-step framework I use to reach my running and fitness goals:
- Get clear on what you want to accomplish.
- Create a specific action plan with clear, bite-sized steps.
- Invite accountability—get someone (or a whole group!) to keep you steady.
- Have a determined end in mind and keep your eyes on the prize, even when life tries to trip you up.
Here’s the kicker: This framework doesn’t just apply to running. It works for anything—whether you’re building your hustle, starting a new habit, or tackling personal changes. Dream it up, and these steps will help you turn it into a reality.
As author Stephen Covey writes in 7 Habits:
“Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least.”
So the question stands… What matters most to you?
Stay focused on what truly matters, and success will follow (or at least, you’ll get a whole lot closer).
